A Midairlines Fokker 50, registration ST-ARG performing flight 7Y-450 from Khartoum to El Obeid (Sudan) with 50 passengers and 5 crew, was preparing for departure when the aircraft’s right hand propeller collided with a ground power unit causing the propeller blade tips to separate. Debris penetrated the passenger window abeam of the propeller; other debris went through the fortified fuselage section below that window causing substantial damage to the aircraft.
Sudan’s AAICD is investigating the occurrence rated a serious incident. The AAICD told The Aviation Herald there were no injuries as result of the occurrence.
