Duane F. Kann is the Fire Chief at Orlando International Airport (MCO), where he oversees all aircraft and structural fire protection, emergency medical services, and airport emergency management activities. He is a member of the Florida Region 5 Incident Management Team, Intelligence Liaison Officer with the Central Florida Fusion Center (CFIX) and Chair of the National Fire Protection Association ARFF Technical Committee. Duane began his career in 1987, as a Fire Protection Specialist in the United States Air Force and entered the commercial ARFF arena with the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority in 1990. He earned a Fire Science degree from Seminole State College and is a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program. Duane holds an ARFF II Certification from Louisiana State University and the Airport Fire Officer Accreditation. He has numerous National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) Certifications, including All-Hazards Incident Commander. Duane has published research reports on NIMS compliance at airports, international airport public health threat responses, and NIMS compliance for meeting the Federal Aviation Administration triennial exercise requirement.
