Coconino County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the death of two people in a plane crash Tuesday morning.

The Federal Aviation Administration notified CCSO that an aircraft had gone off the radar over a remote area north of Seligman around 11:48 a.m.

“Due to the remoteness of the area and weather, the Arizona Department of Public Safety Air Rescue Helicopter out of Kingman AZ, was requested to assist in the search,” CCSO reported in a new release Tuesday afternoon. “At approximately 1:30 p.m. DPS Air Rescue confirmed the aircraft had crashed in the location. They landed at the scene and confirmed there were two fatalities as a result of the crash.

The incident is being investigated by CCSO, the Medical Examiner’s Office and the National Transportation Safety Board.

Officials have not released information about the aircraft nor the origin or destination of the flight. CCSO stated identification of the two deceased people has not been determined.
