ABBEVILLE CO., SC (WSPA) – Two people were taken to the hospital after a small plane crashed in Abbeville County Monday evening.

The crash happened in the area of Brock Circle and Legion Lake Road around 7:30pm.

According to the Abbeville County Fire Department, the plane was a single-engine 1943 Boeing E75 biplane.

Both men on board were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.

The fire department said the plane had reportedly taken off from Ashley Airfield, a small private grass airstrip near the site of the crash.

There’s no word yet on what caused the crash.

There was a minor fuel leak from the plane and the Anderson County Hazmat was called to the scene to assist.

The FAA will investigate the crash.

The Abbeville County Fire Department and Abbeville County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
