A pilot who crashed his ultralight plane into the roof of an empty building in the town of Lee in Oneida County earlier today is in stable condition, with leg injuries, New York State Police said today.
Ronald S. Richards Jr., 66, of Blossvale was operating the single-engine plane when his engine appeared to fail, causing him to crash into the small building at E. Centro International Air Park in the town of Lee, police said.
The accident occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m. at 4931 Lee Valley Road, troopers said.
Richards was transported via Mercy Flight to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
The investigation is continuing.
