An Airlink aircraft aquaplaned off the runway while landing at the Pemba Airport in Mozambique on Thursday afternoon.
The airline said 32 passengers and three crew members who boarded the Embraer135 Regional Jet, registration ZS-SJX, operating as flight 4Z 204 from Johannesburg, were uninjured following the “wet runway excursion”.
“Everyone onboard disembarked from the aircraft through the main front entrance. At this time, there have been no reported injuries. Airlink and airport personnel at Pemba are taking care of the passengers and crew,” the company said in a statement.
Airlink said it had notified the relevant authorities in Mozambique and South Africa about the incident. The runway closed immediately after the incident, pending an investigation by the Directorate of Air Accident Investigations.
