LIBERTY TWP. — The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after a small plane crash landed in a pasture behind the Triple R Ranch on the corner of Round Lake Road and Liberty Road on Tuesday afternoon.
Detective Sergeant Dan Bowman with the Michigan State Police Jackson Post said the pilot was the only one aboard the plane and was uninjured in the crash.
A preliminary investigation showed an “unknown mechanical failure” caused the plane to go down Nov. 7, and a more thorough investigation by the FAA will determine the exact cause.
Emergency medical personnel from the Liberty Township Fire Department evaluated the pilot, whose name was not immediately released by authorities, on the scene.
It is unknown where the place took off from nor where it was headed to when it crash landed Tuesday.
Bowman said additional information would be released by the MSP Jackson Post when it became available.
