GREENVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) — A floatplane crashed into Lake Jocassee on Wednesday afternoon, and a boater in the area rescued the two people inside.

Scott Krein from the Oconee County Emergency Services, said the plane was practicing water landings and takeoffs on the lake, and the plane meant to land on the lake.

However, he said the landing and floatation devices malfunctioned, causing the plane to crash into the water.

The two people were wearing life jackets and not injured in the crash. The plane was later towed to a private dock.

Crews are checking to see if any fuel spilled into the lake.

Lake Jocassee is in South Carolina, near the borders of North Carolina and Georgia.
