A national Maldivian Dash-8 rejected takeoff roll in Hanimadhoo International Airport due to a fire in the cockpit windshield.

Following the rejected takeoff, all passengers were safely evacuated on to the runway and airport fire and rescue team was on the scene.

Maldivian acknowledged the incident on Twitter although it is yet fully unclear what caused the fire.
Recently in 2019, a Jazz Air Dash8’s copilot side windshield caught fire during mid flight and the crew attempted an emergency landing.

According to the investigation of the Jazz Air flight, the probable cause of the fire was was arcing failure of the windshield heat L2 power wire on the right windshield due to unknown reasons.
