Fairfield, Ohio — On Tuesday, pilots escaped an unscathed plane crash near Fairfield County Airport.

According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, pilots were preparing to land a Piper PA-24-250 plane at the airport when engine problems began to occur shortly after 11:40 am.

The pilot attempted an emergency landing, but OSHP said the plane had instead crashed into a cornfield away from Election House Road.

The pilot was not injured in the crash and no other passengers were on board.

The Federal Aviation Administration is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
