WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KVII) — One person is dead after a fiery plane crash in Wichita Falls.

According to the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office, the pilot drove from Arkansas to purchase the single engine plane Saturday and it crashed on takeoff from Wichita Valley Airport.

“They were pinned in the plane when it went off the runway, flipped, and caught fire,” said the sheriff’s office.

The Iowa Park Volunteer Fire Department said it was dispatched to the crash at 1:30 p.m.

The pilot was pronounced dead at the scene.

The FAA is investigating the cause of the crash.

“Prayers to their family of the pilot and prayers for the responders involved,” said the sheriff’s office.
