LAKELAND, Fla. — The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a helicopter crash Friday evening.

Officials said it was a small helicopter that had a hard landing in Lakeland.

The pilot had to hike almost two miles in swampy land to reach authorities, officials said.

The Polk County Fire Rescue checked out the pilot and he is OK.

Authorities have not been able to get to the helicopter to see what condition it is in.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will investigate the crash.
