DeFuniak Springs Fire Department and Walton County Fire Rescue EMS responded to an incident at the DeFuniak Springs Airport Wednesday afternoon that caused a plane to inadvertently leave the runway.

A pilot flying a single-prop Platinum Cirrus aircraft was attempting to take off from the DeFuniak airport Wednesday afternoon when a powerful wind gust forced the plane to make a hard turn to the right off of the runway, according to post from Walton County Fire Rescue.

Paramedics from Walton County Fire Rescue treated the pilot, who was uninjured during the incident.
