HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Blown tires are common on highways. Not so much on runways.

But that’s exactly what happened Thursday at Hilo International Airport.

State Transportation Department officials said an Interisland Airways chartered plan blew a tire upon landing at the airport about noon.

No injuries were reported, and the incident caused no flight delays.

Crews were set to wrap up repairs to the plane by Thursday afternoon.
