HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (CBS12) — A small plane crashed Wednesday afternoon near a shopping plaza, CBS Miami says.

According to CBS Miami, the crash happened near 450 N Park Road and Hollywood Blvd. The location is close to Memorial Hospital.

The plane erupted in flames after the impact, CBS Miami states.

The station said firefighters were on the scene dousing the charred remains of the plane with water. It was a banner plane that operated out of the North Perry Airport, west of where the crash happened, per reports.

CBS Miami, reported, that Hollywood officials believe one person was onboard and is deceased.
