State troopers are investigating after a Cessna airplane crashed into a Kansas field, killing the pilot.
The plane crash happened at around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday in Rush County near K-4 and 170 Road, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report. Troopers wrote that the pilot died at the scene after crash-landing in a field. The deadly aviation accident is still under investigation.
The KHP report identifies the pilot as 56-year-old Anthony P. Thompson, of Apopka, Florida. There were no passengers on board.
Federal Aviation Administration records show the plane’s N-number, N274PM, is registered to a 1998 Cessna 208B owned by Planemasters.
