Last night you may have caught a glance of this mid-air scare. Videos from onlookers on the ground, and passengers in that plane captured the tense moments when the Atlas Air Boeing 767 experienced emergency engine failure shortly after taking off from Hickam Air Force Base.

A passenger spotted what appeared to be flames shooting from the aircraft. Inside the pitch-black cabin, they reported hearing sounds of explosions. One passenger also tweeted “so our plane almost blew up just now leaving Hawaii.”

Witnesses from the ground reportedly described hearing sounds of explosions before seeing what they say were those bright flashes of light.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the military charter flight was headed for Guam.

Atlas Air says the pilot was forced to return to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport for an emergency landing, and that safety is always the airline’s top priority. The company will be conducting a thorough inspection to determine the cause of the mechanical problem.

The FAA says the plane landed safely with no injuries reported. 212 people onboard.
