LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Passengers of a Spirit Airlines flight to Los Angeles found themselves in Lincoln on Monday.
In a tweet, the Lincoln Airport said the flight – which had 188 passengers on board – made an emergency landing due to “an indication of smoke.”
The plane had left from Detroit earlier on Monday and was headed for Los Angeles.
A Spirit spokesman said Monday night that there was no smoke on board.
“Safety is our top priority, and the aircraft will be taken out of services and thoroughly evaluated by our maintenance,” the airline said in a statement. “We apologize to our Guests for any inconvenience. We arranged a different aircraft to continue the flight which has already departed LNK for Los Angeles.”
While waiting for a new flight, the passengers enjoyed LNK’s new terminal, the airport said.
