XENIA, Ohio (WKEF) — A single-engine plane made an emergency landing in Greene County on Thursday, Dec. 14.

According to the Xenia Post of Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers responded to the intersection of Old U.S. 35 and Straley Road at about 2:05 p.m., on a report of a plane that suffered an engine malfunction.

Curtis Walt, 73, of Fairfield, Ohio was flying from Columbus to Cincinnati in a Cessna 172N, when the engine failed.

Walt was able to land the airplane in a plowed field approximately five miles east of Xenia, troopers said.

Walt and his passenger were uninjured.

Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Silvercreek Township Fire Department, and Federal Aviation Administration.
