An aircraft of the Hungarian airline Wizz Air has aborted its take-off at Eindhoven Airport after a collision with a bird. The aircraft had to make an emergency stop, causing the brakes to overheat. The Airbus A320 was then unable to continue.
The plane, with 178 passengers on board, was destined for the Hungarian capital Budapest. After the incident, the occupants were taken off board and received in the terminal of Eindhoven Airport, an airport spokesperson reported.
The fire service checked the plane and there was no fire. It is unclear whether people can still go to Budapest tonight.
A Transavia plane from Valencia was unable to land in Eindhoven due to the incident. That aircraft has diverted to Rotterdam The Hague Airport. The passengers are transferred to Eindhoven by bus. The Transavia Boeing 737 will come to Eindhoven tonight, because the aircraft will be needed again tomorrow for flights from that city.
