The Bahamas Air Accident Investigation Authority (AAIA) has begun an investigation into an incident where a  plane suffered a runway excursion at the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) earlier this afternoon.

Initial reports said the Embraer E110 aircraft, which had a registration number C6-CAB, was en route from Haiti when it experienced landing gear issues as it touched down at the LPIA.

It is reported the plane skidded off the runway and came to rest at some nearby brush.

At least 20 persons were on board the plane and there were no reports of injuries.
