LORIDA, Fla. (CBS12) — Six people survived a plane crash in Highlands County on Friday evening.

According to Highlands County Fire Rescue (HCFR), at 5:30 p.m., first responders rushed to O’Neal Road in a remote area of Lorida, 35 miles from Okeechobee, after receiving reports of a plane crash.

When they arrived, they found six people, all awake and alert. Three people were injured, two passengers and the pilot. The two passengers were taken to local hospitals for treatment, while the pilot was rushed to a landing zone along Blessings Avenue where he was airlifted to a regional trauma center.

Photos taken at the crash site show the overturned plane with debris next to it.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the crash.
