ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — On Friday evening, July 23, a single passenger airplane made an emergency landing, crashing near Duke Energy and behind Ingles on Long Shoals Road, Asheville Police Department officials said.
The plane was pictured upside-down after the crash, but the officials said the pilot had no injuries.
No person or structure was hit during the landing, a spokesperson with APD said.
According to FlightAware logs, the plane, a Cessna 150 model aircraft, took off at 6:17 p.m.
The pilot was able to make the 911 call himself, less than 20 minutes after takeoff.
The National Transportation Safety Board will conduct an investigation into the need for an emergency landing.
