CHESTERFIELD, Mo. ( — A small plane crashed near a Parkway school on Saturday.

Officers with the Chesterfield Police Department said the plane crashed in the parking lot of Parkway West Middle School. The 64-year-old pilot was the only one on board and suffered non life-threatening injuries.

“We’re still investigating all of that, I know we have a couple of witnesses say they thought they saw it flying in kind of in a strange manner, but we’re still talking to people and with this being a plane crash, this investigation will mainly be done by the FAA,” said Sgt Keith Rider with Chesterfield police.

Police say one of their officers was close by at the time of the crash.

No other information was released.
