BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —

The main runway at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport was temporarily closed Wednesday afternoon after a small plane experienced mechanical issues just before takeoff. Check out video of the scene above.

“The main runway is temporarily closed as crews respond to remove a disabled aircraft,” the airport said on social media shortly before 4 p.m. “The secondary runway is open for aircraft operations. Please check with your airline for flight status changes or updates.”

There are no reports of injuries.

The runway was reopened shortly after 5 p.m. after the aircraft was towed away on a large flatbed truck.

According to FlightAware, the Beechcraft Baron G58 was scheduled to depart Birmingham for Chattanooga, Tenn.
