A small plane collapsed in a village in Joyabaj, Quiché. According to area media, three people died in the accident.
The information indicates that it is the light aircraft with the registration TG-MOL , which fell in the Alcoba farmhouse, Pajopoj de Joyabaj village , Quiché.
The first reports indicate the death of three people who were traveling on the aircraft. The causes of the accident are unknown.
One of the deceased was identified by first responders as Rubia Tobar, 82.
Jonathan Josué Valdez and Juana Arévalo García , are the other two people who died in the accident.
Volunteer Firefighters came to the scene to smother the flames in the remains of the plane.
Aeronautics regrets accident
The head of the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics, Francis Argueta, regretted the accident where three people died.
“We regret the death of Captain Jonathan Josué Valdez , passengers Rubia Tobar and Juana Arévalo García on board the TG-MOL,” wrote Argueta on his Twitter account.
The plane made a medical care flight to La Aurora airport.
Investigation personnel from the agency that runs Argueta travels to the scene to establish the causes of the tragic accident, authorities said.
