Wherever we are in Canada, we are trying to get used to the idea of the senseless murder of more than 15 people in a small community in Nova Scotia. One of those who lost their lives in this tragedy is UCTE retired member Tom Bagley, who was an airport firefighter during his career, and also former president of Airport Local 80829 from Halifax until his retirement in 2005.

Brother Bagley leaves behind the image of a kind person who cared about the well-being of others. Former war veteran and motorcycle enthusiast, his sense of humor earned him much appreciation. As his daughter Charlene wrote on Facebook, “He died trying to help, which, if you knew him, was typical of his personality all the time.”

Our condolences and prayers go out to the Bagley family and to all of Nova Scotia as they face this terrible tragedy.
