MCKENZIE BRIDGE, Ore. — Two bodies have been discovered at the scene of a small plane crash near the McKenzie Bridge airport, according to Fire Chief Rainbow Plews with the Upper McKenzie Bridge Rural Fire District.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the call about the plane crash came in at 7:01 p.m. Tuesday. The call was made by Forest Service helicopter technicians at the McKenzie Bridge Airfield, who saw the airplane, heard the crash and saw the plume of smoke.

The FAA confirmed the plane that crashed was a Cessna 172.

According to the Aircraft Owner and Pilots Association, a Cessna 172 is a single-engine aircraft.

A helicopter at the scene was not involved in the crash, Forest Service officials said.
