EMMETT, Idaho (CBS2) — UPDATE:

The tanker pilot fighting the Schill Fire near Emmett has passed away.

The Bureau of Land Management plans to release more information once family is notified.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A tanker plane battling a brush fire near Emmett has crashed, BLM officials tell CBS2.

One person has been flown to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.

Further details about the incident are unknown at this time.

The Bureau of Land Management says the 25-acre Schill Fire is about two miles southeast of Emmett near Pearl Road.

No structures are threatened at this time.

Multiple fire agencies are responding including Idaho Department of Lands, Gem County, Meridian, Middleton, Star and Eagle resources. Fire crews are also attacking the fire from the air with two air tankers and a helicopter.

The cause is under investigation. It’s expected to be contained by 10 p.m. tonight (Tuesday).
